Dutch Landscape Photography
The Netherlands is a country made out of water. Dykes and dunes protect the polders – man made land – and the numerous Dutch villages and towns. The result is a fascinating landscape, waiting to be captured.
The photography field trips to the Zaanse Schans and Weesp are in close distance to Amsterdam. While walking through the Zaanse Schans and Weesp you encounter old Dutch houses, narrow dykes, polders and mills. Each location has its own special atmosphere. Our third trip – the Barrier Route – takes you by car along huge dykes and dams that protect the land below sea level against incoming water. Dutch outdoor photographer Anton Harfst is your guide on all Dutch Landscape Tours.
When: For scheduled tours in 2013, see the calendar in the sidebar

Choose one of our great outdoor photo workshops along Dutch rivers, dams and dykes
1. Zaanse Schans
The area just north of Amsterdam is a great place to photograph a typical Dutch landscape with water, tiny polders and working mills along the river. This photography field trip to the Zaanse Schans takes you back in time. You can visit one or more of the working mills, a cheese making farm and other traditional crafts. Some of the locations are free, others ask an entrance fee (not included in the price).
Point of departure and return: Amsterdam Central Station (9 am – 5 pm)
From € 89 per person including train ticket, coffee and a pancake lunch

2. Weesp along the river Vecht
The old fortress town of Weesp lies just 20 minutes by train to the east of Amsterdam along the river Vecht. During our walk through the picturesque town and along the river, we encounter canal houses, mills, wooden bridges and polders. If possible we include a visit to the bell tower of Weesp into the program.
Point of departure and return: Amsterdam Central Station (9 am – 5 pm)
From € 89 per person including train ticket, coffee and a pancake lunch
3. Barrier route
The southwest of the Netherlands consists of several islands that are nowadays connected and protected by huge barriers, dykes and dams, the so called Deltaworks. Water dominates the view. During this full day outdoor photo workshop we make a round trip from Amsterdam to the impressive Maeslant Storm Barrier in Rotterdam, take the ferry at Maassluis, cross the Haringvlietdam and the Brouwersdam before arriving at the main storm surge barrier Oosterscheldedam. Before heading back via the Grevelingendam, we stop for a photo shoot under the Zeelandbrug. During the day we make plenty of photo stops, and include a lunch and dinner break.
Point of departure and return: Amsterdam (9 am – 9 pm)
From € 139 per person including transport, lunch and dinner
